Great cities are ultimately defined not only by what they build, but by how people live together. The people of goodwill in Dallas help define that character every day. Kindness Week gives us an occasion to act together and to notice what our choices can make possible.

There’s a new place in North Texas where everyone is welcome. You won’t find it on a road map. Kind, TX grows each time someone makes a simple promise: to practice kindness in everyday life.

For North Texas Kindness Day (Nov. 7-14), Thanks-Giving Square is inviting businesses, schools, congregations, nonprofits and community groups to choose an action that fits their people and purpose. Serve a neighbor. Thank someone whose work often goes unnoticed. Bring people together to listen. Offer generosity where it can make a difference.

Does your school, congregation, club, business or cultural organization have something to share? Bring the music that gets people moving, the dance that tells a story, the cheer that lifts a crowd or the poem that gives us something to carry home. On Saturday, November 7, the North Texas Kindness Festival at the AT&T Performing Arts Center will open North Texas Kindness Week. Thanks-Giving Square is inviting groups across our region to help make it a joyful gathering.

This is how Dallas grows kinder: one honest exchange at a time. A story shared over coffee. A neighbor heard without judgment. When we are each being shown a different version of the world, we should not be surprised that common ground is harder to find. Rebuilding it begins with something no algorithm can replace: conversation, listening and genuine human connection.

This North Texas Giving Day comes at an especially important moment for Thanks-Giving Square, and thanks to generous benefactors, every gift will go twice as far. Together, we can sustain a place and a movement devoted to bringing people together and strengthening the values our city needs most: gratitude, kindness, respect and understanding.
