Register Your Interest for a Good City Storytelling Spiral

By Faye Lane, Artist in Residence & Chief Inspiration Officer

‍What if one story could change the way you see yourself, another person, or even the world around you?

I believe it can.

Stories are how we make meaning of our lives. They help us understand who we are, where we’ve been, and how we belong to one another. A good story well told can take a room full of strangers and turn them into a collective — connected through memory, emotion, laughter, heartbreak, hope, and recognition.

That’s why I’m so excited to begin offering community storytelling circles as part of our The Good Cities Story Project for the North Texas community at Thanks-Giving Square.

These warm and inclusive community circles, which we have named Good City Story Spirals, are not performances. They are spaces for reflection, listening, connection, and courage. Together, we’ll explore the stories we carry — the moments that shaped us, surprised us, challenged us, or changed us for the better.

You do not need to be a writer, actor, speaker, or performer to participate. You only need curiosity and a willingness to listen and share.

In our Storytelling Spirals, we’ll explore:

  • The power of personal storytelling

  • How specific memories and sensory details bring stories to life

  • The universal feelings that connect all human beings

  • The moments of change that help us grow

  • The healing and meaning-making power of being heard

One of the most beautiful things about storytelling is discovering that while the details of our lives may differ, the feelings underneath them are often shared. We all know joy. Loss. Fear. Wonder. Hope. We all know what it means to search for meaning and connection.

Stories remind us we are not alone.

Whether you have a story you’ve been longing to tell, or you simply want to experience the power of listening in community, I hope you’ll join us. It is my honor to serve as your instructor in professional storytelling.

We are currently gathering interest for upcoming Storytelling Spirals. If this experience speaks to you, I invite you to complete the interest form and let us know you'd like to participate.

I can’t wait to gather together, hear your stories, and create something meaningful as a community.

With gratitude,
