Accessibility at Thanks-Giving Square

Thanks-Giving Square is committed to welcoming all visitors. Because some features of the original architecture may present challenges, we encourage guests with accessibility needs to contact us before their visit at 214-969-1977 so we can provide the best possible support.

  • Accessible Parking: Staff can issue a special permit for limited parking along Pacific Avenue, providing direct access to Thanks-Giving Square.

  • Service Animals: Service animals, including guide dogs and hearing dogs, are welcome.

  • Tactile Interpretation: Inside the Chapel, a tactile interpretive panel with braille text describes the “Glory Window.”

  • Temporary Ramp Access: A portable inclined ramp can be installed to reach the Hall of Thanksgiving from the Garden level. Please let staff know before or upon arrival if you will need this ramp.

  • Step-Free Routes: The site map below shows a step-free path through the Garden and to the Chapel of Thanks-Giving. Please note that the circular inclined ramp to the Chapel from Ervay Street is steep and may require assistance.

DART Light Rail

  • Nearest station: Akard Station – served by the Red, Blue, Green, and Orange Lines.

  • Walking time: About 4 minutes (0.2 miles).

  • Step-free route: From the station exit, head east along Pacific Avenue on wide, level sidewalks to the Bell Tower entrance of Thanks-Giving Square. Curb ramps are present at all crossings.

M-Line Trolley

  • Nearest stop: St. Paul & Federal.

  • Walking time: About 4 minutes (0.2 miles).

  • Step-free route: From the stop, head west along Federal Street toward Ervay Street, turn left on Ervay Street and continue to the Chapel entrance of Thanks-Giving Square. Crossings have curb ramps; sidewalks are level
