Change to Dog Policy at Thanks-Giving Square
Effective October 15, 2018 dogs will not be allowed in the garden at Thanks-Giving Square. The temporary dog relief area has been removed.
While many neighbors have relied on Thanks-Giving Square as the nearest place to bring their dogs to relieve themselves, the dogs have contributed to an erosion in the appearance and smell of the property. Returning the Square to a “green and clean” place of respite is our first priority, and it is unfair to use donor resources to maintain a relief area for neighboring dogs. Nearby residential properties have been informed and signs announcing this change in policy have been posted in the garden.
Our mission is to bring diverse peoples together on the common ground of gratitude.
We want our “common ground” to be enjoyed by all, and feel this is a necessary step to reach that objective. Please report violations to Thanks-Giving Square staff or Dallas 311.
Reminder of other visitor policies:
- Thanks-Giving Square is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is prohibited in the garden and indoor facilities.
- Weapons of any type — including open and concealed carry handguns — are prohibited on Thanks-Giving Square property.
- Bicycles or and scooters are not permitted in the garden. Bicycle parking is available along Pacific Avenue.
