Come for a Tour of Thanks-Giving Square!
See the sweeping history of Thanksgiving, a basic expression of gratitude for all peoples and nations. Our Tour leaders introduce you to the historic Hall of Thanksgiving exhibits, the unique Chapel of Thanksgiving, the Wall of Presidents, the Wall of Praise and the Bell Tower, the new Court of the Nations and the Ring of Thanks
sculpture.
Visits and Guided Tours of Thanks-Giving Square:
Visits are $3.00 for adults, $2.00 for seniors and students, $1 for children under 12. Discounts for families and groups, depending on size.
Tours by arrangement (depends staff availability with a two week in advance reservation): Minimum 10 people;
$3 for Children $4 Senior Citizens and $5 for Adults. Smaller groups may have a tour under special arrangements, please call, 214-969-1977 or e-mail.
Discounts for school or young peoples, senior groups, church groups etc.Groups of 30 and above benefit from additional discounts if the bookings are made at least two weeks in advance with a 25% nonrefundable deposit.
Last minute tours are possible depending on staff availability and special arrangement. Tours with professionals focusing on architecture, art, history, or aspects of gratitude and thanksgiving are also available with adequate lead time and conmensurate pricing.
The Center hosts scheduled tours on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 PM. These tours are given at a special price of $3 for adults and $2 for students with at least ten people signed up by two weeks in advance. If not, the tour will be cancelled for that day. Tour Facts:
Tours last 45 to 50 minutes, focusing on information about thanksgiving traditions in Texas, the United States and other countries of the world. Tours are available in Spanish, French, Russian, German and Italian. Please contact the Square at least two weeks ahead for a tour in one of these languages.
Each person in the tour may express their personal thanks by placing a card in the Prayer Bowl in the Chapel or by speaking aloud in the Ring of Thanks sculpture. Buses can park in the parking lane on Pacific Street between Akard and Ervay streets. Automobiles may park at a special rate in a nearby garage or at metered parking one block north on Ervay Street. Video and signs in the exhibit area enable visitors to take a self-guided tour. The gardens and the Court of Nations also have signs that tell about the Thanksgiving tradition.
Programs & Rentals:
In addition to touring the facility, groups from the larger Dallas/Fort Worth community can use The Center to hold meetings and programs which support and promote the values of gratitude. All programs must be scheduled and pre-approved by the staff.
Buses may park in the parking lane on Pacific Street between Akard and Ervay streets. Automobiles may park in a nearby underground garage or at metered parking one block north on Ervay Street. Space in the Hall of Thanksgiving is large enough for 75 people seated at tables or 95 seated theater-style. The Chapel seats 80 comfortably and is acoustically ideal for musical concerts.
The outdoor Courtyard can accomodate up to five hundred people .
Space for programs is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with existing Thanks-Giving Square programs receiving priority. There is a rental fee based the space (courtyard, chapel, hall, entire Square), on the time involved, the amount of staff preparation for setup, audio/visual equipment and other considerations. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Please call or send an e-mail for the basic rental fee schedule and to arrange a date and time for your group or activity.
